L’ANSE — Baraga County Board of Commissioners said they are waiting for on three departments to send in their budgets to formalize their 2024-25 budget, but approved to pay several bills at Monday’s monthly meeting.

These bills include the bill of Baraga County Memorial Hospital Trustee Per Diem of $1,120, the bills of the County Commissioner and Department of $77,217.54 and the bills of prepaid accounts of $254,401.54. The board also approved to pay off the Sheriff Department Commissary Checking Account consisting of $8,456.35.

The U.P. Area Agency on Aging FY 2025 Annual Implementation Plan will now implement work on Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. The board decided to approve the resolutions for the Implementation Plan.

The board approved the Copper Country Mental Health Services’ resolution opposing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services decisions to implement conflict-free access and planning in Michigan. CCMHS believes MDHHS making this decision conflicts with the responsibilities of CCMHS.

The Oreste Chiantello Public Service Award recipient is yet to be determined and the Veterans Affairs Committee appointment shall remain unresolved but will be brought up in the August meeting.

Starting at $2.99/week.
