Green Bay man busted for drugs in central Upper Peninsula

BARK RIVER — A man from Wisconsin is facing drug charges after his arrest Monday in the central UP.

According to a press release from the Michigan State Police, troopers from the Gladstone Post arrested 56-year old Steven Van Lanen charging him with multiple drug violations.

According to the release, troopers were on patrol in Delta County’s Bark River Township when they noticed a vehicle traveling on US 2/41 Highway.

The vehicle committed traffic violations, prompting troopers to conduct a traffic stop.

The subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Van Lanen, for possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine andpossession of analogues. (prescription drugs).

He was lodged in the Delta County Jail in Escanaba.

On Monday Van Lanen was arraigned in 94th District Court where his bond was set at $20,000.

He is next due in court on Feb. 13. Police remind the public that Van Lanen is considered innocent until proven guilty.
