Meth conspirator sentenced

Houghton County man will serve 9-20 years for role in drug trafficking conspiracy

HOUGHTON — 42-year old Houghton County man Joshua LaCasse was sentenced to serve 9 to 20 years in a Michigan state prison Monday for delivery and manufacturing of methamphetamine.

LaCasse was arraigned in February on one count of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine, one count of racketeering and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. LaCasse pleaded guilty to the meth-related charge. The other charges were dropped by the prosecution in exchange for the guilty plea.

According to media reporting, LaCasse was arrested in 2025 after an investigation concluded he was at the center of a drug trafficking conspiracy, moving meth between Michigan and Wisconsin. 12th Circuit Court Judge Brittany Bulleit handed down the sentence and considered LaCasse’s previous offenses,

LaCasse was on parole in 2025 when he was arrested and has a 20-year history of prior convictions. He was sentenced to seven months in jail in 2018 for controlled substance possession and was sentenced to 33 months to 20 years for two counts of delivery/manufacture of methamphetamine.

LaCasse will not get credit for time served.
