Ontonagon Theater to present ‘Wizard of On’

Press release

The Harbor Town Players, part of the Ontonagon Theater of the Performing Arts, have another magical, original production for locals and visitors alike: the new play, the “Wizard of On” will be presented at the Ontonagon Theater on Friday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 18 and 19 at 3 p.m.

Advance tickets are available for $10 at the Ontonagon Township Library, Citizens State Bank, Miners State Bank, Lake Superior Credit Union and WUPY. Online tickets are available for $12 at ontonagontheater.org. Tickets will also be available at the box office.

Inspired by the all-time favorite, “Wizard of Oz,” writer/director Eric Hopper has created a “yooperized” version of the classic tale. Join intrepid heroine Dorothy as she leads her new friends though the hilarious Land of On looking for the great wizard. Enchanted swamp boots, rutabagas and evil insects are just a few things audience members can expect from this original comedy production.

Proceeds benefit the OTPA and the Players, which consists of about 20 community members who volunteer their time and talent to provide live theater and entertainment to local audiences.

For more information about the OTPA, see the Facebook page, or contact Hopper at 906-675-1516 or theater@ontonagontheater.org.
