CALUMET -- Big news! Thanks to support from the Friends of the Library, the Calumet Public Library now has access to Kanopy for everyone who holds a library card! According to a Library press release, Kanopy allows free access to thousands of movies, documentaries, and foreign films using your library card. Simply add your Calumet Public-School Library card number and PIN or password and you can stream programs at home, or on the go, using your favorite device! There's also programming for children (educational and entertaining films and TV series) via Kanopy Kids. Get started at kanopy.com/en/clklibrary. If you have questions, explore the site or stop in the library for assistance.
The Friends of the Calumet Public Library will hold its annual meeting on June 10, and will elect a new board at this meeting. Any member in good standing (e.g. dues are currently paid) is eligible to vote. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month (not July and December) and are open to the public - come and join the discussion and celebrate all the Friends have done this past year, and what we have planned for the future.
The date and times have been set for the Used Book Sale, which will be held June 20 – 22. Gently used books and DVDs can be dropped off at the library any time beginning Monday. (Please no medical books, encyclopedias, textbooks, or books that are not in good shape.)
If you're not a member, but would like to shop at the Members Only presale on June 20, memberships will be available to purchase at the door for $10. We can't wait to see you at this event - it's the primary fundraiser for the Friends, and we're building an impressive selection for a wide variety of reading tastes. Volunteers are always welcome to help before, during, or after the sale (Friday 11am - 6pm; Saturday 10am - 4pm; and Sunday from 2pm until all books have been boxed and taken to storage). Please respond to this email to sign up for a shift (you won't be asked to work the entire stretch!).
