HOUGHTON — Following a performance in Ontonagon Wednesday, the Pine Mountain Music Festival concludes its 2026 season with UPstarts! performances in Kingsford, Marquette and Houghton, tonight, tomorrow and Saturday. Since 2012, the UPstarts! program has provided young emerging singers and instrumentalists from the Upper Peninsula the opportunity to perform in a professional music festival.
Chosen by audition, the young artists tour the U.P., meeting audiences of all sizes in different performance settings. These concerts provide the artists with important experiences on the concert stage and give audiences a chance to enjoy the impressive level of talent that comes from our local communities.
This season’s performers, chosen by audition, are Liv Arney, Houghton (flute), Joel Green, Hancock (oboe), Aubrie Jacobson, Marquette (collaborative piano), Shane Niland, Houghton, (Trumpet) and Jessica Schrader, Marquette (soprano).
Performances are 7:30 p.m. (CDT) tonight aty the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsford, 7:30 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Marquette and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Portage Lake United Church in Houghton.
