HOUGHTON - “New Music in the Mine” returns to the Quincy Mine Hoist House Wednesday, Sept. 30 and Thursday, Oct. 1, with performances at 6 and 8 p.m. each evening.

This first Michigan Tech Music Series event of the season is an annual sell out show full of the best music you haven't heard yet. The 6 p.m. shows feature conScience: Michigan Tech Chamber Singers led by newly appointed conductor Jana Meckler, as well as solo performances by soprano Katheryn Summerset, cellist Adam Hall and Michael Maxwell on the modular synthesizer.

The 8 p.m. shows feature this year's special guests, the Michigan State University Electronic Music Workshop. This ensemble investigates the performance, creation, and study of experimental and improvised electronic and electroacoustic music.

The group approaches music in new ways and considers its role within today's evolving digital culture. The MSU

Electronic Music Workshop will also be performing a song during the 6 p.m. performances.
