Tadych’s Econo Foods celebrates 45 years in business, 20 years in Houghton

HOUGHTON – For 45 years Jim Tadych has provided communities across the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin with groceries at his Econo Foods store. The Houghton store has been open for the last 20 of those 45 years, providing the community with food and more.

“Jim Tadych has meant so much to this area,” said Scott Rubich, Houghton store manager. “We’ve been in business for 20 years and he’s been in business for 45. We’re very much part of the community and we give a lot of donations in the community. We’re part of the community through our We Share program, Econo Cares program and we’re involved in the schools.”

To celebrate Tadych’s 45 years in business, Econo Foods is throwing a two week celebration with prizes and special sales. There will be two rounds of sales on food and items within the store, running first from Monday, September 30, through Sunday, October 6, and then a second round of savings from Monday, October 7, through Sunday, October 13. The flyers advertising the many sale items will be available on the Econo Foods website at tadychseconofoods.com/houghton, in the store and in the Daily Mining Gazette.

In addition to the great deals found in the flyers, all six Econo Foods stores will be giving away daily prizes to shoppers who use their More Cards.

“We’ll be giving away, company-wide through the six stores, more than $35,000 in prizes over the two weeks, including a 60 inch LCD TV, cash prizes, store gift cards and more,” Rubich said. “There are going to be 45 winners per day across the two weeks. Each of the six stores will have 45 winners daily.”

The daily prize drawings will reward winners with gift certificates, coupons and discounts for in-store merchandise, such as receiving $20 of frozen pizzas. Every day of the celebration 45 shoppers will win a prize from Econo Foods. At the end of the two week 45th anniversary celebration, everyone who has used their More Card will be entered into a grand prize drawing for a 60-inch LCD TV and cash prizes of $445, $345 $245 and $145.

Customers will be entered into the daily drawings for each day they use their More Card. If they shop more than once per day using the card, they will be entered more than once. At the culmination of the event, they will be entered into the final drawing as many times as they have used their More Cards over the two week period.

“You enter to win through your More Card. So the more times you shop, the more times you’re entered,” Rubich said.

Econo Foods has set up a station for customers to sign up for a new or update their current More Card. To obtain a new More Card all the customer has to do is fill out a short form.

“Throughout the two weeks we’ll have somebody manning a station where you where you can sign up for a More Card or update your current More Card,” Rubich said. “To get a More Card just come to the station and fill out a simple form and get your new card right away. The more you use it the better chance you have to win.”
