Winners from the 2023 Keweenaw Community Sparkplug Awards were announced at an awards ceremony Thursday night. Receiving awards were Steelhead Technologies for Growth, Copper Country Running Company for Customer Service, Waldo Solutions for Innovation/Transformation, From the Ground Up by the From the Ground Farmers Market Collective for Project of the Year, Amanda Makela of 2nd Sandbar Productions as Young Professional of the Year, the late Hancock Downtown Development Authority Coordinator Deb Mann as Community Contributor of the Year, Darian Reed of Superior Search and Rescue as First Responder of the Year, and Houghton High School students Stella Wickstom, Annika Peterson, Emilee Deforge and Mikko Salmi as Youth Contributor of the Year.
