HANCOCK — To thank the community for 39 years of steady patronage, Fine Line Tire & Service is giving back.
The Hancock-based tire and automotive shop is holding Customer Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Houghton County Fairgrounds.
The event is jam-packed with events for kids and the community, including a monster truck, bouncy house, obstacle courses, kids’ games, facepainting, a car show and Touch-a-Truck competition, said Fine Line owner Tyler Korpela.
Local police departments will also have informational booths set up at the event. Free food will also be provided, Korpela said.
“We just came up with the idea that we should have something for our customers that gives back to them, where they can meet us without buying things,” he said. “It’s just for customer appreciation.”
Korpela has owned the shop for three years. He bought it from his father, who’d worked there for 30 years. His favorite part about owning Fine Line is “the interaction with the customers.”
While tires remain the biggest focus of the store, it’s also branched out. For 20 years, it’s offered automotive services too — “brakes, alignments, everything undercar,” Korpela said.
“Most people know us for our tires, but we do a lot more,” he said.
Several years ago, it also added a Houghton location.
“We’re continually growing,” Korpela said.
