Graham Jaehnig/Daily Mining Gazette A full line-up of everything outdoors for gifts for mom.

CALUMET — Cross Country Sports, at 507 Oak St. in Calumet’s historic business district, has ideal gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

Cross Country sports has bikes and accessories, clothing, running shoes and a wide selection of other products.

“We have all kinds of different styles of bikes for mothers to get out and enjoy, either time for themselves, or with their kids,” Ryan Bisher, store manager and head mechanic said.

Types of bikes include road, mountain, city, fitness, BMX, fat-tire, electric bikes (e-bikes) and strider bikes.

“No matter what type of riding you are interested in, we can help you find the bike of your daydreams,” says the store’s website.

They also offer free custom fittings, including switching out handlebars, handlebar stems, saddles, tires and pedals to create the perfect fit.

“We have great apparel ideas, like stylish mom,” Bisher said. “A prism jacket, an essential piece of mountain clothing for any type of activity, riding shorts, great purses from Dakine, upgrades for moms who already have a bike.”

The Burley Bee trailer is a great way to get out and have fun bike adventures with your kids,” Bisher said. The Burley trailer provides children protection with UV-protected windows, front and rear reflectors and a 5-point harness. Its simple hitching system makes attaching the trailer to the bike easy.

And Cross Country Sports is locally owned. Rick and Lorri Oikarinen have been the owners of Cross Country Sports since 1979. The shop was originally established by Rick’s father in 1962, making it the oldest Nordic ski shop in the Midwest.
