Jampot Bakery has Mother's Day treats

When taking mom on a relaxing drive through the Keweenaw on Mother’s Day, make sure to stop at the Jampot Bakery. The Jampot is a perfect spot to find unforgettable treats for mom.

With everything from bakery to fruit spreads, the Jampot sells wild berry preserves, gourmet jams and jellies, along with

fruitcakes, scrumptious muffins and cookies, handmade chocolates and candies, tasty pancake and fruit-and-nut mixes, and specialty grade coffees. All of these are made on the property, under the brand “Poorrock Abbey.”

The selection is more than impressive. The Jampot offers everything from raw honey and maple syrup to apple butter, to jams made with black currants, cranberries, blueberries, even grapefruit marmalade, rosé wine jelly. Actually, there are too many to name.

“Right now, we have the best selection of the season, before it gets busy in the Keweenaw,” Father Sergius said. “We have about 60 varieties of jams and jellies on the shelves, so now is a great time to come out and visit.”

Fr. Sergius said that by the end of the tourist season, the Jampot will most likely be down to just 10 varieties.

Because the fruitcakes made by Poorrock Abbey, and they are made with local fruit, this is also the prime time of the year to purchase them.

“Our selection now is the best it will be all year,” said Fr. Sergius.

The Jampot even sells its own Poorrock Abbey select, blended light, medium and dark roast, coffees, which they do in small-batch roasting.

The Jampot is located on M-26, in Keweenaw County, three mile east of Eagle River and five miles west of Eagle Harbor, near Jacob’s Falls.
