BARAGA — Since 2014 Jason Chaudier has served the Baraga’s outdoorsmen with endless selections of hunting and fishing equipment from his Woodland Firearms & Supply. The store provides firearms, camouflage and archery equipment for those preparing for the deer season and fishing poles. As you may expect from such a venue, they also carry evrything for the angler — rods, reels, lures. bait and much more. With Father’s Day coming up on Sunday, Woodland is the perfect place to provide everyone’s father, or father figure the right fit for all his outdoor activities.

Chaudier said the store is diversified in equipment and can cater to all four seasons, so everything is available for immediate use or to put away leading up to Opening Day of deer season or drilling a whole for the first ice fishing trip of the year. With summer in full swing, many customers’ focus is fixated on fishing, and Woodland Firearms & Supply offers something for everyone, especially those heading out on Keweenaw Bay.

“We are really big into trolling,” Chaudier said. “It’s hard to find a shop that specializes in trolling gear, and that’s kind of what we do. We got a really good selection of reels and rods for trolling. We also offer spooling of reels.”

For trolling fishermen, they can find lead core setups, rod holders, down riggers, weighted steel setups and wire and braided Dipsy combos and more. Woodland Firearms & Supply is also a Fish Hawk Electronics dealer offering multiple types of fish finders. However, if dad’s garage is a bit sparse and and customers are looking for an easy purchase to get themselves and their father down at the pier for simple fishing, the store sells regular rod and reel combos, hooks, sinkers and live bait.

While it is the height of fishing season, there are some who would rather go out shooting on the range or have a predator hunt. Those customers are still covered by the large selection of firearms, bows and crossbows. Rifles, shotguns and black powder rifles are available, and the shop’s unique features are accessories service.

“We do sell silencers also, which nobody else does in this town,” Chaudier said. “We actually have a silencer shop kiosk here. It does all your fingerprints and everything right here, it streamlines the whole process.”

Silencers are required to be registered with the ATF.

“I’m always willing to negotiate firearms. I would say, just stop in and see what we got going on,” Chaudier said.

Woodland Firearms & Supply is also a TenPoint Crossbow dealer and service center. The store sells a variety of crossbow brands including TenPoint, Wicked Ridge and Ravin. But registered TenPoint crossbows allow for repair services. “So if a limb is cracked and TenPoint goes good for it, they’ll send us the limb and we can swap it out. And we also do string changes and cable change, we do all that,” Chaudier said.

If the endless options are a bit overwhelming, customers can purchase a gift certificate for the store and dad’s get the opportunity to browse the selections themselves at Woodland Firearms & Supply.

“If the man in your life is an outdoorsman, we’ll have something,” Chaudier said.
