AMMP applications open

HOUGHTON — MTEC SmartZone announced applications are now officially open for the 2026 AMMP (Advanced Materials and Manufacturing) Accelerator Cohort. This intensive, three-month program is designed to help early-stage companies by providing the resources, mentorship, and commercialization pathways necessary to scale.

Now entering its next cycle, the AMMP Accelerator has established a powerful track record of success. To date, AMMP-supported startups have raised more than $3.818 million in funding, filed seven patents, secured eight license agreements, and registered multiple copyrights and trademarks. This collective effort has successfully moved over 16 innovative products toward commercialization.

“We are looking for founders with ‘wild ideas’ in the materials and manufacturing space who need more than just capital–they need a roadmap,” said Grace Hsia-Haberl, at MTEC SmartZone. “Whether you are navigating the complexities of intellectual property or preparing for your first major investment round, AMMP provides the hands-on coaching and industry connections to move your business forward.”

Program Highlights:

• 3-Month Hybrid Model: Combines intensive coaching with flexible participation to support founders as they refine their innovations and business models

• Expert Mentorship: Access to a network of seasoned entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, and technical experts from Michigan Technological University (MTU) and across the Midwest

• Proven Results: Join a lineage of successful graduates like 2025 cohort standouts BRCÄ’ and Sequestro, who have gone on to win national pitch competitions and earn spots on the Renaissance Venture Capital “Hotlist.” (906) 487-7000 | | MARKETING@MTECSZ.COM | | MTECSZ.COM

The AMMP Accelerator Program is powered by MTEC SmartZone in partnership with the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) and the MEDC. It targets pre-revenue or early-stage companies with a strong technology base in advanced materials–defined broadly as new or improved materials designed for commercial and industrial applications.
