HOUGHTON — A Hancock man accused of murdering a woman in Franklin Township was arraigned in 97th District Court Wednesday.

Isaiah Strieter, 18, is charged with open homicide of Ashlee Harvey, 38, a felony punishable by life in prison. He is also charged with possessing a firearm — a 9-mm pistol — while committing a felony, a two-year felony.

After reports of gunfire, officers arrived at a home on Quincy Street in Franklin Township Monday afternoon, where they found Harvey’s body. Strieter was arrested several hours later.

Strieter will be held without bond.

During the discussion on bond, Strieter said if he was released, he couldn’t go out in public.

“I’m never going to mentally recover from this,” he said, adding he wished he could go back in time.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 16.
