With a full stock of auto parts as well small engine services and even some specialty items, the Harter family is dedicated to providing top quality options for your vehicle’s needs.

Harter Auto Supply, in Calumet Township, is a family-owned business that has been serving the local community for 18 years.

Located at 611 Pine Street, the business has been family-owned for more than 50 years and as the name states, Harter carries a full line of automotive parts, and has an expert staff to assist customers. The third-generation business is now operated by three grandchildren of Robert Harter, who founded it in the 1970s. They are Betsy, Jamie and Scott.

Information about Harter Auto Supply can be found on the CarQuest website, which says that customer service is driven by Independent owners who are passionate about delivering excellence in everything they do.

While the front of the building sports a large red, white and blue CarQuest sign, the name of the business is Harter Auto Supply.

“CarQuest is our supplier for auto parts,” Betsy said.

The store stocks parts for popular makes, including Ford, GM, Dodge, and many foreign makes like Isuzu, Honda, and many more.

“We sell some regular automotive parts,” said Betsy. They even sell hard-to-find parts, like window cranks for vintage cars. Harter does more than sell auto parts, however.

“We also sell some boat parts and some plow parts.”

Harter also services lawnmowers, snowblowers and small engines, adding, “We have a large building.”

The business has changed since it first opened, according to Jamie.

Robert Harter purchased the building sometime in the early 1970s, she daid, and operated a Pontiac, Buick, GMC dealership. He subsequently sold the dealership to Parkway Motors, which was located on Fifth Street in Calumet.

“My dad asked what we would like to do then,” said Jamie. “We decided on auto parts and we opened up in 2005.”

The store keeps hours that are convenient for customers, Betsy said. Hours of operation are:

Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is closed Sundays.
