HOUGHTON – A suspect in an Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team bust in Atlantic Mine was arraigned in 97th District Court Friday.

Kevin Anderson, 28, of Atlantic Mine, faces a charge of possession of less than 25 grams of heroin, a four-year felony. His bond was set at $5,000.

Also arrested in the bust was Anthony Vencato, 52, of Atlantic Mine, who was charged with possession of methamphetamine, a 10-year felony. He was lodged in the Houghton County Jail on $10,000 bond.

The men were arrested Monday after UPSET detectives executed search warrants at adjacent residences. Officers seized about 2 total grams of crystal meth and heroin, according to UPSET.

Vencato’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21; Anderson’s will follow on Sept. 23.
