U.P. Newspapers and Karl Bohnak team up for weather segment

MARQUETTE — The four newspapers in the Upper Peninsula started a new and exciting feature with today’s edition — a weekly weather package from none other than Karl Bohnak.

Known informally as the “Upper Peninsula Weather man” for his decades of work at TV6, “Karl’s Korner” will include a five-day forecast and special weather message from Bohnak.

“This column is a great opportunity for me, since I like writing. It will give me a chance to reach another segment of our U.P. population,” Bohnak said. “The column will include some historical tidbits and a look ahead to the coming week.”

Mining Journal Managing Editor Bud Sargent voiced pleasure at the development.“This is great news for regional newspaper readers,” Sargent said. “No one tops Karl in terms of audience credibility and connection. He is the weather authority in the U.P., no doubt.”

The feature will run on Fridays in The Mining Journal, Escanaba’s Daily Press, The Daily Mining Gazette in Houghton and The Iron Mountain Daily News.
