HOUGHTON — Michigan Technological University students blended college humor with stagecraft at Thursday’s annual Stage Revue competition.

Eight campus groups advanced to the finals to perform skits at the Rozsa Center to a near-capacity crowd.

Targets included Wadsworth Hall food, the former Finlandia University, Northern Michigan University’s mascot, NMU’s cannabis studies program, NMU students’ job prospects and NMU in general.

Students created skits based on this year’s Carnival theme, “From Forests to Shores We Love the Outdoors.”

Between scenes, Comedian Moe Yacub hosted improv games including audience volunteers, many still in costume from their roles in that night’s skits.

Guardians of the North was named Audience Choice winner for their skit “Downed Pilot.”

The final results will be announced Saturday.
