PORTAGE TOWNSHIP — A 24 year old man died as the result of a single vehicle rollover accident Sunday night in Portage Township. According to a press release from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called out shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday to an accident on Paradise Road, near Pilgrim Road in Portage Township. Deputies say the driver of the vehicle, a 24 year old man, was pronounced dead at the scene while a passenger in the vehicle, a 24 year old man was uninjured.

Deputies said that speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash which remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Michigan State Police Hurontown Fire and Rescue, Mercy EMS and Superior Towing.
