Ishpeming Man Faces New Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges

NEGAUNEE — Michigan State Police at the Negaunee Post is announced new arrests of 34-year-old Gerald Burton of Ishpeming, following additional investigations into alleged criminal sexual conduct. According to a MSP press release, on May 6, MSP announced Burton’s prior arrests linked to two investigations, resulting in felony sexual conduct charges issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor and his arraignment in 96th District Court.
In the initial press release, MSP asked anyone with additional information contact them. Following that release and subsequent coverage by local media, two previously unknown victims came forward and spoke with MSP detectives. MSP initiated investigations that have resulted in further felony criminal sexual conduct charges being issued by the Marquette County Prosecutor.
On Thursday, Burton was arraigned in the 96th District Court on one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree. Following the arraignment, his bond was set at twenty thousand dollars ($20,000).
Also on Thursday, Burton was arraigned for a second time in the 96th District Court, this time on an additional charge resulting from a separate investigation. This new charge was also one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Third Degree. His bond was once again set at twenty thousand dollars ($20,000). Burton’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 12, 2025.
This brings the current total to four separate cases, which resulted in charges of a combined total of seven counts of criminal sexual conduct, spanning multiple degrees.
