Only Lake Linden votes Tuesday

HOUGHTON — While there are special elections scheduled throughout state on Tuesday, locally, only voters in the Village of Lake Linden and in the Lake Linden-Hubbell School District will be going to the polls.

In Lake Linden, residents are being asked to renew a total levy of 1.75 mills ($1.75 per $1,000) subject to applicable Headlee millage rollbacks on taxable value property within the Village of Lake Linden for an additional Five years, beginning with the 2025 tax year.

The millage will raise an estimated revenue of $30,975 in 2025 to be used for the purchase and upgrading of heavy equipment. If approved this would be a renewal of previously authorized milage.

Voters in the Lake Linden-Hubbell School District will be asked to decide on two ballot measures. The first is a proposed renewal of the districts non-homestead operating millage levy. The millage affects principal resident and other property exempted by law, of 20.7543 mills for three year, and is a renewal of existing millage.

The second measure is a proposed bond for remodeling, construction, furnishing and equipping school facilities, purchasing busses and improving sites.The amount of the bond is not to exceed $6.5 million. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

There are no other elections scheduled Tuesday in the remainder of Houghton County nor in Keweenaw or Baraga counties.
