A Flag or a float

Join Parade of Nations

Gazette file photo Marchers display flags, signs and smiles during the 2022 Parade of Nations.

HOUGHTON – The Parade of Nations returns on Saturday, Sept. 20, celebrating cultural diversity and global unity in the Keweenaw. This year’s theme, “Games

Around the World,” invites the community to get involved in a variety of meaningful ways — whether by walking in the parade, carrying a flag, entering a themed float, or

volunteering at the event.

Volunteer to Help Behind the Scenes

The Parade of Nations wouldn’t be possible without its volunteers. From setup and teardown to serving as marshals and helping with festival activities, there’s a role for everyone. Explore open shifts and sign up today.

Enter a float, apply for a grant

Community and student groups are invited to enter a float inspired by this year’s theme. Prizes will be awarded to the top three floats:

– 1st place: $350

– 2nd place: $250

– 3rd place: $150

Registered student organizations can also apply for up to $100 in float grant funding to help bring their vision to life. Float applications due Sept. 6. Grant requests due Sept. 1.

Walk in the Parade

Community, student, fraternal, and religious organizations are invited to walk in the parade and represent their cultural identity or global interests. The parade begins at 11 a.m. at the Rozsa Center and concludes at the Dee Stadium in Houghton. Register your walking group by Sept. 9 for guaranteed consideration:
