MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP — Michigan State Police (MSP) at the Negaunee Post identified the individuals responsible for the alleged threats made against the Marquette Culver’s sunday. A group of four juveniles had made alleged threats against the Marquette Culver’s by calling and making vague threats to shoot the restaurant. Currently, there is not any known danger to the public.

The threats were directed specifically at the Marquette Culver’s location and not at any specific individuals. When the investigation began, the restaurant had temporarily closed as a precaution in response to the reported threats. MSP troopers responded to Culver’s and began their investigation. The preliminary investigation has identified four juvenile suspects and indicates that the incident was reportedly an attempt at a prank call, with no intention to cause any physical harm.

“The MSP takes all reported threats seriously and thoroughly investigates each incident to ensure public safety,” said Lt. Ben Eckola, MSP Eighth District Public Information Officer. “This type of behavior is not a joke and making false threats is never acceptable.”

The investigation remains on-going and will be forwarded to the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office for their review. The Marquette Culver’s resumed normal operations Monday.
