Traffic stop leads to arrest of two

ESCANABA – Two people were arrested Thursday night after Escanaba Public Safety reportedly discovered methamphetamine and cocaine during a traffic stop.

Escanaba Public Safety pulled the vehicle over at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday, according to a department news release. The officer called in a canine unit to assist with the stop.

The dog positively alerted to the presence of drugs, resulting in the two arrests and the recovery of about 10 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of cocaine.

Upon further investigation, 20 additional grams of methamphetamine was found as well, according to the news release.

No names or further details were released. Escanaba Public Safety also was assisted by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team, or UPSET.
