Sunblad moving on
Interim Superintendent cannot remain in the position
Craig Sundblad
Lake Linden – Crag Sundblad, interim superintendent of the Lake Linden-Hubbell School District, said that come Friday, he will no longer be able to continue filling that role.
Sundblad has been serving as interim superintendent since June 27, after Former Superintendent and Middle/High School Principal Brad Codere announced his retirement effective Jun 30.
Sundblad said the School Board will now re-post the position of interim superintendent through the Michigan Association of School Boards, but as of November 1st, the district will have no superintendent. “I’m done on Friday,” Sundblad said, “so somebody is going to have to figure out something.”
Sundblad said he has other obligations to which he is committed.
After Codere’s retirement, the LL-H School Board unanimously approved Sunblad’s appointment to the position on an interim basis at a June 17 special meeting, while the School Board worked with the MASB to find a permanent superintendent.
“When the position opened,” said Sundblad, “they asked me to step back in.”
Sundblad has a 34 history with the school district. He was initially a teacher in the and subsequently became the middle school/high school principal. In 2009, he became superintendent, a position he held until retiring in 2019.
The Lake Linden – Hubbell School Board must re-start its search for superintendent this week. After a months-long search was thought to be ended when a candidate was hired, only to quit in mid-October, before assuming the position.
“There were issues,” Sundblad said
