ADAMS TOWNSHIP – Backcountry Village (BCV), on Old M-26 near South Range, is hosting a Freestyle show and ride out, Saturday. The event is free and open to the public. Marc Fanchi, co-owner of BCV said the event is presented by Pat’s Motorsports, in Rockland. The all-day event is intended for riders, fans, and anyone who lives for the northern snowmobile culture.
X Games medalists Brett Turcotte, Willie Elam, and Kyly Saxton, will put on a freestyle snowmobiling show, starting at 4 p.m. Vendors, include Fox Shocks, offering free shock installs and Bikeman Performance, providing on-site installs and tuning.
Additional vendors will also be in the parking lot, showcasing gear, upgrades, and must-have sled essentials. Throughout the morning there will opportunities to raise money for the local snowmobile clubs and support local trails. Dual ride outs will be held later in the morning.
The all-day event is to celebrate the grand opening of a lot providing free parking for those who want to park their vehicles and trailers while they enjoy the local trails.
BCV is a 300-acre powersports resort currently under construction, co-owned by Marc and Saralee Franchi. It will include cabins, an RV park, kids’ riding area, a terrain park, and eventually residential homes.
Marc said because there is a shortage of parking for people who want to park and ride, they acquired a 10-acre parcel specifically to build a free parking lot for public use.
“So, it’s free day-use parking year-round,” he said. “Anybody can use it whether you’re still wheeling or off side by sides or you want to go hiking, mountain biking, whatever you want to do, you’re welcome to come and use the parking lot at no charge.”
The parking lot opened for the public early last month.
An additional event, billed as an afterparty, will be held at the Range Lounge on Saturday night, but Mark emphasized this is a separate event requiring registration and an admission fee.
