Drug bust in Ironwood

A narcotics investigation that was years in the making culminated in three arrests Saturday in Ironwood. According to a release from the Gogebic Iron Area Narcotics Team (GIANT) Investigators obtained information over the course of several years involving an address in the City of Ironwood owned by Mary Conley, allegedly involved in the trafficking and using of controlled substances. According to the release, GIANT was aware of the sales of methamphetamine, cocaine, and prescription drugs.

GIANT was able to conduct controlled buys of methamphetamine and cocaine from Conley’s residence, which allowed investigators to obtain arrest warrants to be issued by the 98th District Court in Gogebic County.

Conley of Ironwood, Jeffrey Emery, also of Ironwood Michigan, and Chad Bergquist of

Ramsay were taken into custody by GIANT and have been arraigned in the 98th District Court at the Gogebic County Courthouse. Additional arrests are expected.

Under the Michigan, Wisconsin, and U.S. Constitution, each of the suspects are afforded the

presumption of innocence until/unless found guilty by a trial or guilty plea to one or more of the criminal charges brought against them.

With assistance of the Gogebic County Prosecutor’s Office and the City of Ironwood, seizure of the target residence is expected.
