HOUGHTON — Completion of the Aspirus Houghton Clinic building expansion is expected by today. The project broke ground at 1000 Cedar St in Houghton last April and took 11 months to complete the renovations, which includes 13 new exam rooms, 2 procedure rooms, and a drive-thru pharmacy.

According to Regional Communications and Engagement Lead at Aspirus Health, Jenn Jenich-Laplander, the clinic has been open throughout the construction process but starting today the substantial construction is completed.

Jenich-Laplander added there will be a few small projects that will be finished after the main portion of the construction is complete.

Parts of the project were completed in stages, such as the drive-thru pharmacy — which completed construction in January.

Patients can either use the drive-thru or visit the pharmacy inside Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with a lunch closure from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Saturday drive-thru hours also took effect with the construction completion in January where patients can use the new service 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Earlier this month, Aspirus Houghton opened a walk-in clinic at the Cedar St location where they provide services including lab testing, allergy and infection treatment, x-rays, minor burn treatment and healthcare related to other minor illnesses.

According to a March press release, the walk-n clinic is intended for non-emergency, same-day outpatient care for patients as a lower-cost alternative to an emergency room visit.

According to Jenich-Laplander, Aspirus Houghton will host a ribbon cutting celebration and community open house for the new expansion on April 9.

The Houghton Clinic’s general operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the walk-in clinic closing at 6 p.m. those days. For more information, call the Aspirus Houghton Clinic at (906) 487-1710.
