The circus is coming to town

Facebook Photo The Kingdom of Wonders Circus will perform several shows beginning Saturday at Kestner Park in Houghon.

HOUGHTON — Kingdom of Wonders, a Renaissance-themed circus, will be in Houghton for six days, beginning Saturday at Ray Kestner Waterfront Park. This circus is advertised as family-friendly and animal and clown free. It immerses the audience into the story about a knight and his sidekick as they fight evil foes.

City of Houghton Community and Business Development Manager Danielle Perkowitz said the circus coming to town is a time for families and residents to visit the Kestner Waterfront.

“It’s a great opportunity for folks to come out and almost spend the whole afternoon on the waterfront there,” she said. “Because you can hang out in the park, grab some ice cream and then go to a free circus and just enjoy all the space that Kestner Park has to offer.”

According to a press release from the City of Houghton, Kingdom of Wonders has free entry, but donations are encouraged. Circus-goers can expect immersive storytelling, acrobatics, aerial artistry, juggling and comedy.Outside food and drinks aren’t allowed–but don’t worry! They’ve got popcorn, soda, and other treats available for purchase before and during the show.

Performances run July 4-9 at Kestner Waterfront Park on Lakeshore Drive. Showtimes are 3 p.m. Saturday (July 4), 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday (July 5), and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
