CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- The search for a man missing from Wisconsin, ended when he was found in Marquette County. State Police in Michigan had helped in the search for the man who was believed to have dementia or some other cognitive impairment out of Wisconsin.
The Silver Alert was issued in Wisconsin on July 16 for Gary Eicher, 74 from Green Bay, Wisconsin. According to Michigan State Police, Eicher’s vehicle was observed Thursday morning traveling north bound on US 41 in Calumet.
According to a Michigan State Police press release issued late Friday, Chocolay Township Police in Marquette County, were called to assist with a stranded motorist shortly after 10:30 p.m. Thursday night. The officer arrived on the scene to find the motorist was Gary Eicher. The officer then contacted authorities in Wisconsin to inform them of the situation.
Eicher was taken to UP Health System-Marquette for care while awaiting reunification with his family. Chocolay Township Police thanked the passerby who stopped to assist Eicher and then contact 911 to report the situation. Police were assisted at the scene by UPHS Marquette and Goodwins Towing.
