ST IGNACE -- What apparently started as an argument lead to a stabbing and subsequent arrest in the eastern end of the U.P. According to a press release from Michigan State Police (MSP) the incident took place Friday in Mackinac County’s Moran Township.
State Police at the St. Ignace Post, responded to a report in Moran Township that an 18-year-old man had been stabbed by another 18-year-old male following a “verbal altercation.”
Police said, the victim was initially treated at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace before being transferred to McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey for additional treatment.
According to the MSP release, following the initial investigation, the 18-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder. The suspect was lodged in the Mackinac County Jail. His identity is not being released at this time, pending arraignment.
The investigation remains ongoing. Further details will be released when available. MSP remind the public that the suspect is considered innocent unless proven guilty. The MSP St. Ignace Post was assisted by the St. Ignace Police Department.
