Stabbing suspect arraigned

Charged with attempted murder

ST. IGNACE -- The suspect in a stabbing that took place Friday in Mackinac County has been arraigned on his charges.

18-year-old Maxwell Phillips of the Marquette County community of Little Lake was arraigned in the 92nd District Court on Monday. His charges were one count of attempted murder, one count of assault with intent to murder, and one count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Phillips’ bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety. He is scheduled for a probable cause conference on September 1, 2026, and a preliminary examination on September 9, 2026.

State Police remind the public that all defendants are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
