$142,932.00 rebate from SEMCO

HANCOCK — Canal View – Houghton County received a $142,932.00 rebate from SEMCO for improvements made to its existing boiler system. The rebate is part of SEMCO’s Energy Waste Reduction Program. The program offers rebates to commercial customers to help them upgrade their current equipment to higher efficiency equipment.

“This project included updating our boiler burners on both of our steam boilers. The new boiler burners operate using a frequency drive that allows our boilers to operate much more efficiently and cost effective. The upgrades are expected to pay for themselves in 3.5 years and to save Canal View tens of thousands of dollars a year in fuel savings.” said Jeff Lehtola, Director of Facilities at Canal View.

In a press release Canal View states it is committed to make sure it’s residents and staff are safe and comfortable. “By partnering with SEMCO and capturing this rebate, our facility has been able to practice responsible financial stewardship and make well-informed decisions that help ensure we can continue serving our community well into the future.” said Adam Laplander, CEO/Administrator for Canal View – Houghton County.

In a statement, SEMCO stated “Canal View – is enriching and caring for lives with energy efficiency. Canal View – Houghton County invested in significant boiler controls improvements to help their facility run more efficiently and with reduced energy costs.”
