ESCANABA – Bay College announced the State Board of Nursing has officially approved the Practical Nursing (PN) Program for the Bay College Escanaba Campus. This milestone reflects the institution’s continued commitment to expanding high-quality healthcare education and strengthening the regional healthcare workforce.

Over the past year, the Nursing Program has addressed several challenges with focus and determination. Today, the College celebrates a significant development that positions the program for a strong and sustainable future.

The first cohort of Practical Nursing students is scheduled to begin in mid-May. The program will equip students with the knowledge, hands-on experience, and clinical preparation required to become Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). These professionals serve a vital role in hospitals, long-term care facilities, clinics, and community health settings. Reintroducing the PN program locally enhances workforce development and improves access to care–especially in rural communities.

“This approval represents an important step forward for our institution and the communities we serve,” said Bay College Dean of Allied Health and Nursing Patrick Reinhard. “By offering practical nursing education close to home, we are creating pathways to meaningful careers while addressing critical healthcare staffing needs across our region.”

In the coming months, the College will release detailed information regarding admission requirements, application timelines, financial aid opportunities, and upcoming information sessions.

Starting at $3.50/week.
