Megan scores big

Iron County author writes first book

GAASTRA — Upper Peninsula artist, athlete, and author Megan Strom has released her debut children’s book, “Greta Scores Big”

According to the author, “Greta Scores Bis,” is “a heartwarming tale about courage, teamwork, and embracing one’s strengths.”

Strom, from the Iron County community of Gaastra, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She says she wrote and illustrated her first book while recovering from surgery earlier this year.

In an interview earlier this month with the Iron County Reporter, Strom said while the idea emerged during her recovery, it really can’t be called an “overnight success,” as took months of writing, illustrating and revising. “It took a lot of [work] and my friends and family helped me revise my book. They helped me brainstorm … I worked on it for months and it took a while to perfect my drawings for how I wanted them to be.”

The story follows Greta, a lovable groundhog who joins a hockey team despite not being the fastest or strongest player. Greta’s journey teaches children valuable lessons about perseverance and finding their own unique talents. This marks a significant milestone in Strom’s creative career, showcasing her talent and resilience as an artist and storyteller.

Greta Scores Big, is now available on Amazon.

Starting at $3.50/week.
