HOUGHTON – The Bi-Annual Kids Consignment Sale is scheduled for April 15-18 at the Copper Country Mall.

The Kids Consignment Sale is a pop-up shopping event in the Houghton area. It was established in 2019, creating the ultimate win-win solution between parents as buyers and sellers, says the kidssale.net:

“Everyone has the opportunity to shop, many parents can consign, and numerous items will be donated to local charities thanks to the generous hearts of our consignors. Consigning is a fun and easy way to earn extra income while staying at home with your family.”

Consignment Sale Director Alyssa Stenersen says there is still time for people to register to sell items. The deadline to register is April 13. People can register at thekidssale.net.

After the consignment sale concludes Stenersen says consigners are offered the opportunity to donate their unsold items.

“Last year, we donated three truckloads or more,” she said. “We donate directly to the Life Outreach Center, specifically for crisis, but also for new moms. We also donate to the Angel Mission and similar charities.”

There is a special New Mom Pre-Sale, which is scheduled for Tues. April 14, with an online registration form.

Alyssa Stenersen, director of the Consignment Sale said she has many people who help with the event.

Stenersen said a consignment sale used to take place at the Tree House, in Houghton some 15 years ago, when she moved out of the area. When she moved back, she discovered it no longer ….so, she decided she would start it up again herself.

Stenersen said the focus of her organization is simply to provide it.

“I love helping the community. That’s a big part of the drive of doing it,” she said. “It’s the people coming in and saying how much they love it, how much they needed it to push their kids’ clothes out and we don’t have a ton of shopping here, so it really helps them.”

Shopping carts are not available at the sale, says Stenersen, so be sure to bring a way to carry purchases purchases. Ideas are large laundry basket (a rope attached is a great idea), canvas bag, beach towel (to pull behind or sort items customers wish to buy)

* New mom pre-sale Tuesday April 14th 6:30-8:00pm

Public sale dates:

* April 15-17th 10 a.m.- 8 p.m.

* April 18th 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

* Saturday many items 1/2 price!
