Keweenaw Clean-Up

Community picnic May 16

COPPER HARBOR — The Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition (KORC) is announced the seventh annual Keweenaw Clean-Up and Community Picnic. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, on May 16. Participants may start at their preferred location or check in at the KORC tent in Copper Harbor and you’ll be set up with a location.

This all-ages volunteer event takes place across Keweenaw County. Families and students are welcome!

Together the focus is on cleaning up trails, parks, beaches, and road sides. Afterwards they’ll celebrate a successful Clean-Up with a Community Picnic and raffle.

After you’ve cleaned up, you can bring the collected trash to Copper Harbor and KORC will take care of disposal between noon and 1 p.m.

At noon all participants are invited to gather for a Community Picnic and raffle in the Donny Kilpela Memorial Park in Copper Harbor, hosted by the Mariner North. Everyone is welcome. There will be raffle prizes donated by local businesses and clubs.

Hundreds of people have participated in the Keweenaw Clean-Up over the years, and removed thousands of pounds of trash.

KORC appreciates all of the individuals, families, clubs, organizations, and businesses who generously donate time, equipment, food, drinks, supplies, and raffle prizes that make this annual event possible. Organizers say your community spirit and volunteer action continues to keep the Keweenaw clean!
