CALUMET — Summer Hours for the Calumet Public-School Library will begin on Monday. With the change in availability, its summer events schedule will kick into full-gear. Here are some fun activities to do this summer at the library.
The Friends of the Calumet Public Library will host its annual meeting and potluck at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday in the library. The event is open to old and new members, who are encouraged to bring a tasty dish to the potluck. The event will also mark the election of the newest board members.
In a statement, Friends of the Calumet Public Library said it was excited to celebrate all of the accomplishments the library has had throughout the school year.
“In addition to electing this year’s board members, the annual meeting will recap programs and acquisitions and help chart the course for another year,” Friends said. “This is an open meeting, and we welcome new members and new ideas.”
According to Friends, The annual meeting and potluck is a great way to get involved with the library and be a part of its community, as well as an opportunity to take a sneak peek at future library ventures.
On the weekend of June 26, the library will host its used book sale. It will collect donations until June 22 and open for a members-only sale on Friday, June 26. Memberships can be purchased at the door for $10. The next two days include a 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. public sale on Saturday, then a 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. sale on Sunday.
According to Friends, the sale needs volunteers to help collect, organize, set up the event and pack it up. For more information about the sale or volunteering for it, email Friends at libraryfriends@pasty.net. Friends also has a survey available to fill out for suggestions to make the library better.
The library summer hours will Monday thru Friday 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
