Disincorporation dismissed: Calumet proposal rejected by more than 2-to-1 margin

CALUMET — Village voters Tuesday decided on a number of issues that have been hotly debated for some time.

A township-wide referendum to disincorporate the village was rejected in a 1,653-749 vote.

Village President Dave Geisler retained his position against a recall effort by Nathan Anderson, 141-92.

Virginia Dwyer also retained her seat on the council against a recall attempt. Dwyer received 96 votes to Julie DePaul Johnson’s 76. Nicholas Farrell received 50 votes.

In the race for trustee, Jeffrey (Paulie) Mihelcich received 124 votes, Roxanne King received 119, Nathan Anderson received 94 votes, and Darice Taylor received 78 votes.

In the race for village trustee partial term, Joshua Rowe received 100 votes, followed by Douglass Harrer (93), Eric Baccus (82) and Andrew Ranville (80).

Julie Ann Dahlstrom ran unopposed for village clerk.
