CCISD open house brings in over 400 sophomores

The Copper Country ISD Career and Technical Education program recently held an Open House for over 400 Sophomore students from all local high schools. Students visited each of our 9 Houghton County course offerings.  Students were bused to Michigan Tech’s Electrical Energy Resource Center (EERC) to visit Cybersecurity/Networking and new for the 2020/21 school year, Mechatronics.  They also traveled to Finlandia University’s Jutila Center to visit our Graphics/Marketing program, and to Canal View for our Certified Nurse Aide class. At the Career Tech Center in Hancock students visited Welding/Manufacturing, Auto Technology, Construction Technology, Health Careers, and Early Childhood Education.   

CCISD Career and Technical Education Programs housed at the Career and Tech Center in Hancock and those offered through partnerships with local universities, provide hands-on, real world learning experiences for students to prepare for in-demand jobs in our local area and continued education beyond high school.  Career and Technical Education is preparing students for our local area’s open jobs both for today and tomorrow.  Any students (including home-schooled) who missed the open house is welcome to call the Career Tech Center at 482-4250 x300 to arrange a visit to learn more about the exciting opportunities and resources available
