Baraga Treasurer foreclosure statement

In response to COVID-19, and the Executive Order No. 2020-14 from the State of Michigan, Office of the Governor, the Baraga County Treasurers Office will temporarily suspend the deadline by which property forfeited to a county treasurer must be redeemed and will extend this date from Mar. 31, until the later of (a) May 29, or (b) 30 days after the termination of the state of emergency under section 3 of Executive Order 2020-14.

Unless rescinded earlier, this order is effective upon issuance until the later of (a) May 29, or (b) the date 30 days after the termination of the state of emergency under section 3 of Executive Order 2020-14.

Effective Mar. 19 at 4:30 p.m., Baraga County will be limiting public access to the county courthouse in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Individuals with essential business to conduct with any county department in the courthouse or administration building should call to make an appointment. This order will remain in effect until Apr. 6, 2020 at 8 a.m. unless otherwise directed.

For property tax payments please call 906-524-7773, the Baraga County Treasurer’s Office, for payment information. Payments can be made by either mail or credit/debit card over the phone with personnel. If you can avoid paying in cash we appreciate you doing so. You may also call and make an appointment for tax payments but you will be serviced at the door.

Passports are by appointment only by calling 906-524-7773. Expedite Services are not available and routine service may be delayed.
