Potential COVID-19 site exposure for Gogebic County
GOGEBIC COUNTY – The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department (WUPHD) has identified the Subway, located within the Ironwood, MI, Walmart as a potential exposure site for COVID-19. Dates of possible exposure include July 7 and 8.
The health department is advising people that exposure could have occurred at the site listed above or several days later with close contact to someone who visited the site. Depending on the length of exposure, you may be at higher risk for contacting COVID-19. Symptoms will typically appear within two to 14 days of the exposure.
We ask that if you visited this site, or have had close contact with someone who visited this site, and have or develop symptoms such as cough, fever, shortness of breath, or a new loss of test or smell, that you call your healthcare provider and inform them of any potential exposure. For general information, call the WUPHD at (906) 482-7382, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
If your symptoms worsen to the point of needing emergency care, please call 911 and notify the dispatcher of your symptoms or any potential exposure.
COVID-19 testing numbers for the five-county jurisdiction, as of July 17:
Baraga: Five positives, no probable cases, one recovered, no deaths.
Gogebic: 21 positives, two probable cases, six recovered cases, one death.
Houghton: 28 positives, five probable cases, nine recovered, no deaths.
Keweenaw: Two positives, no probable cases, one recovered, no deaths.
Ontonagon: One positive, no probable cases, no recoveries, no deaths.
Total: 57 positives, seven probable cases, 17 recovered, one death.
*Probable cases are those that meet clinical and epidemiology criteria with no confirmatory laboratory test performed for COVID-19.
**Recovered are lab confirmed cases that are alive 30 days post-onset.
***Deaths are also included in the number of positive tests (they are not additional positives).
