Recycling in Ontonagon

Community members have been busy with a grassroots recycling effort. The Ontonagon Recycling Initiative Group (ORI) and Ontonagon Area School are joining together to bring recycling to the residents in Ontonagon County. The recycling dumpster will be located in the parking lot of Ontonagon Area School the first and third Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. every month starting June 5. There will be a recycling fee of $1 per 28 gallon measuring tote which will be available at the site. Residents will be able to recycle cardboard, mixed paper, and plastic and metal containers. Cardboard should be broken down and labels removed. Plastic and metal containers should be clean and empty. Items not listed will not be accepted, including glass.

ORI is looking for volunteers to man the dumpster. If you are able to volunteer please call Patty Ball at 608-235-2934.

Donations are also being requested to support this effort. Donations can be sent to:

Ontonagon Area School District Attn: Business Office

Please make checks out to Ontonagon Area School District with the memo “Recycling.”
