Builders Exchange Scholarship winners announced
MARQUETTE — The Marquette Builders Exchange (MBE) has awarded four $1,000 scholarships to recent Upper Peninsula high school graduates who are furthering their education in a field of construction. The students are:
— Natalie Monette, from Lake Linden-Hubbell Public Schools, daughter of Lori and Paul Monette, who will be pursuing a career in Welding, beginning with earning a certificate at the Advanced Welding Institute in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
— Scott Pendergraft, from Escanaba High School, son of Patricia and Scott Pendergraft, who plans to attend Northern Michigan University to earn a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R).
— Aiden Christenson, from Rapid River High School, son of Jason and Gwen Christianson, who will be starting his career at Bay College by earning a certificate in Welding.
— Dante Basanese, from Iron Mountain High School, son of Geno and Lisa Basanese, who will be attending Michigan Tech University in the fall at the Pavlis Honor College, to obtain a degree in Mechanical and Computer Engineering.
The MBE also awarded a $500 apprenticeship scholarship to Noah Brooks, of Marquette, who is working towards being a sheet metal worker. The apprenticeship scholarships are a new addition to the MBE scholarships for 2021. Applications can be found at www.mqtbx.org/scholarships.
The Marquette Builders Exchange has awarded over 125 scholarships over the past 40 years.
