The Omega House in partnership with the Copper Country Community Art Center recognizes that many of our area youth are grieving a variety of losses (death, divorce, isolation, etc.). Some, due to COVID and some due to other life experiences. That is why they would like to support the area's grieving youth and families. They have developed rock painting kits to recognize and remember a loss.

These kits will be available at the Houghton Elementary School on Monday, Aug. 23, between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 – 6 p.m. in the food pick up area.

If a child is interested in sharing his/her rocks with the community he/she can place a painted rock in any of the Houghton beautification committee gardens (along the Houghton waterfront and by the Portage Library memory angel). Youth can come back and get their rock whenever interested.

There are only 50 kits available and will be given out on a first come first serve basis. For more information, contact Omega House Grief Educator, Cynthia Drake at: 906-370-6686.

The Omega House offers special thanks to the Houghton Beautification Committee for allowing use of their gardens and for Houghton Elementary School for facilitating distribution of the kits.

Starting at /week.
