Lucas Calhoun hired as the operations lead at the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge

COPPER HARBOR — The Keweenaw Mountain Lodge (KML) would like to officially announce the hiring of Lucas Calhoun. Lucas will be responsible for ensuring that all the departments at the Lodge are working together, instilling the values of the organization, ensuring our services and products are up to par with our target market, making sure things are working smoothly on a day-to-day basis, and achieving and improving the financial results of the operations.

He is excited about the progress and direction of the Lodge the past several years, and believes in marrying history with the future to get to a vibrant and progressive present. He exhibits the core values of the Lodge team, which is an important component of the philosophy at the Lodge, and brings with him an enthusiastic attitude.

Lucas has spent the last 21 years working in education, with his most recent position being the principal at Bedford Middle School in Bedford, Indiana. His experiences in education have shaped his interpersonal skills, as he worked closely on a day-to-day basis with multiple stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents/guardians, administrators, and staff. This will be important in leading the Lodge team based upon the team’s values and the Lodge’s educational philosophy and activities.

His love for outdoor activities will provide a wonderful perspective to what we are doing at the resort. This summer he visited the Lodge as a guest, with his family participating in one of the organized bike rides. A discussion from the organized bike ride with Outdoor Activities Lead, Chris Guibert, led to further discussions about job opportunities at the Lodge.

Lucas began his tenure at the Lodge at the beginning of August, and has been catching up on various Lodge activities.

Please warmly welcome Lucas and his family (Courtney, Hudson, and Penelope) to the Lodge team. He and his family love the outdoors and outdoor activities that the Keweenaw has to offer. They are looking forward to living in the Keweenaw.

Lucas takes over the day-to-day operations from John Mueller, who has led the day-to-day operations at the Lodge since 2019. With Lucas focused on handling the day-to-day operations at the Lodge with each of the department leads, John will move his focus to handling the accounting / finance activities, marketing / branding, strategy / vision, and special projects for the Lodge.

Starting at $4.00/week.
