Cool Season Farmers Market runs until Nov. 19

Press release

Saturdays in Calumet are still food-centric at the Cool Season Farmers Market. The Cool Season Market, held indoors at the Copper Country Curling Club from 10 a.m. to noon every Saturday through November 19 offers shoppers access to fresh local foods and artisan crafts with a wide variety of payment options.

According to local farmer Ashley TenHarmsel of North Harvest CSA, “the warm weather this fall, combined with the use of hoop houses and other season-extending methods, are helping to keep plants growing.”

While temperatures have cooled, growers are still bringing in tasty produce. The farm report from another local grower, Nichole Boersma, of Boersma Family Roots, tells us that “customers can still expect to see onions, garlic, pie pumpkins, beets, winter squash, cabbage, potatoes, kale, broccoli, carrots and even some tomatoes and smoked and fresh peppers at the market the next few weeks.”

The market doesn’t only host vegetables, shoppers will find fresh baked breads, bakery, organic maple syrup, locally raised beef and lamb, honey, kombucha, sauerkraut and local jams and jellies as well. It’s also a great place to pick up that one-of-a-kind handcrafted gift from our artisan vendors. For a weekly list of participating vendors, visit us on social media through Facebook or Instagram, @fromthegroundfmc.

The Cool Season Market is run by the From the Ground Farmers Market Collective, and like all From the Ground Markets, shoppers can use credit/debit cards, in addition to cash, Bridge Cards (EBT/SNAP benefits), and several other food access programs at the market.

The Cool Season Market is located at 110 Red Jacket Road inside the Copper Country Curling Club, located behind the Calumet Colosseum. Visit www.fromthegroundfmc.org for more information.

Starting at $3.50/week.
