Chimney fire causes lane closures on M-26 in Calumet Township
CALUMET TOWNSHIP — A fire at a Calumet Township home resulted in temporary lane closures on M-26 on Lake Linden Hill between Lake Linden and Laurium Tuesday afternoon.
Sgt. Daniel Kowalski, of the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, said the two-story home suffered damage as a result of a chimney fire on the roof, which produced large amounts of smoke.
Kowalski said the home was occupied at the time. No injuries were reported in the blaze.
Assisting at the scene were: the Calumet Township Fire and Rescue, Laurium Fire Department, Hubbell Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance. Michigan State Police Calumet Post assisted with traffic control.
