Two arrested for suspected meth lab in Houghton home
HOUGHTON — Two people were arrested after the discovery of a possible methamphetamine lab at a Houghton residence.
On Thursday, detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) recovered components and equipment used in meth manufacture after executing a search warrant on Spruce Lane, UPSET said in a release.
Detectives had executed a search warrant at the home after developing information the residents were manufacturing meth on the site.
Numerous components were recovered at the site, including a one-pot meth lab, UPSET said. Detectives removed eight five-gallon buckets of hazardous waste from the house.
A 40-year-old man and 42-year-old woman were arrested on charges of delivery-manufacture of methamphetamine, a 20-year felony. Their names were being withheld pending arraignment in 97th District Court.
UPSET was assisted by the Houghton Police Department, Michigan Technological University Public Safety and Houghton Fire Department.
